What's this crazy thing about replacing the old logo with the new one in the group picture? No way!! Please keep the old logo from the seventies!

What did we all grow up with???
OLD LEGO!!!!
lego was simple but still heaps of fun, the magic of it has been ruined by all this fancy stuff they have brought out, yeah a few men here and there is fine, but the creativity has been sucked out by pre-designed packages.
meh, its my veiw

Amy, I totally agree with you. The sets that are on the market now are useless. The pieces are too specific that they can only be used to build the items on the package. There isn't much creativity left.

Yes absolutely, Old Lego Rules!!!!!
I still have every piece of my city collection from the late 70's early 80's in its original packaging and with the original booklets all packed away, must get it out one day and revisit my child hood lol.
I agree the new stuff is no fun with its fancy pieces that can only make one or two different buildings. I also have some large Technic cars that you could add a motor to drive it but steering was a problem.

Apparently you haven't browsed MOCpages or Flickr at all. The usage for those "useless pieces" has allowed builders to build more complex things than back in the 90s and earlier.

Agreed, there is plenty of new stuff with Amazing potential! I think most avid builders would affirm that any new part opens up a variety of new and exciting possibilities.

Okay, old Lego is best in that it requires a person to THINK and use their IMAGINATION instead of something that is basically prefab.
Still, I had soooo many of those kits and lost a piece from each here and there. So we painstakingly picked through the pieces which we threw into a jumble and then separated them by piece shape (color didn't matter). Now for the most part I have them all grouped into the compartments of those plastic hobby boxes.
That way if I do chose to buy one of the kits and can't find a piece or it is missing I am always able to find a replacement but even better I build some really neat stuff. It helps expand the creativity.

I do the same thing
my Lego is separated into some 40 different categories in my Lego Cave
but I'm not so sure it helps creativity but more that it sure makes things more convenient...
good stuff!

Have you taken a decision or not yet.? If not please do keep the old logo, it reminds me all my childhood, somehow when I'm walking in shopping mall and I see lego boxes I feel secure and happy. Just like when I was a child. So please keep the old logo, or else I won't buy lego as christmas and birhtday gifts to my freinds' children!

the logo that is displayed now is the current logo that you find on the Lego Boxes and on displays in stores. The logo has changed quite a bit from when it first came out, the company sure has changed too. Can't wait to build my latest Star Wars set.

Amy Burkhardt, I completely agree :( It seems that you and I are soulmates.
Moreover, even worse, the /themes/ of the pre-designed stuff are largely dictated by the world of Hollywood and consumerism, "Star-Wars", etc., and all that bullshit :(
In other words, instead of /shielding/ our children from consumerist Hollywood bullshit, LEGO is now complice in sucking our children into this moloch.
In this regard they are following PLAYMOBIL (of Germany) which also used to be a wonderful toy-world which then also got sucked into the Hollywood machinery.
It seems that only FISCHER-Technik (also of Germany, which triggered the invention of "LEGO-Technics" in the mid-1970s --- I still remember my first LEGO-Technics Fork-Lift in 1976), were able to stay away from this trend, this, however, at the price of becoming largely irrelevant --- I don't know of any child who is using FISCHER-Technik any more.
I my collection at home I'm fortunate enough to have a few simple bricks from the 1950s (!) which I inherited from one of my uncles. Those bricks are "hollow" inside [___] and do not have that "inner structure" [ooo] which came about in the late 60s or early 70s, but they are fully compatible on the upper side with their typical 2x4-knob [8888] structure
Kind regards; -Stefan

I have to add myself to the keepers: keep the old logo! That is the one we all grew up with.
If in some decades the "new lego", as described by the post above, will have had the same impact the old one had on us and there will be people cherishing it as on of their childhood precious things, then the new logo will have earned itself its place.

Maybe the company would have separate the two product line with the to logos, like some other companies do. One for classic, brick style lego, and one for the likes of Bionicle and stuff.

i can't believe there are so much people that share this love for lego which i still do, consierding i snuck out a few plastic bags of that at a local mall because they were taking out all of the lego merchandise,
in some weird part of my head, i still do wanna play with my lego but time constraints and we do all have to grow up, but yes i agree with one of the posts here, LEGO just makes me smile and makes me feel happy
so please, let's do something good to the next generation of kids who will one day say the same things that the people wrote here

I am with Amy about the open-ended creative being taken out of Lego by having so many close-ended sets that only can be one scenario...and all the additional mini-figs. A friend of mine, Iain, and his wife, Eve, do incredible people with just the regular building blocks. I wasn't 'in' to Legos as a child, but am as an adult. I have a child and a husband that love it and always have. By watching them and through their creative uses of Lego and through those of my friends, I have become a fan and a user. Through their open-ended, creative use of the blocks themselves,I have seen the many different creative ways that one may use them, that I never imagined. If we just get more and more character orientated mini-figs and close-ended sets, then we are just a 'Barbie' in plastic.

As for the logo, the one on this page IS the changed logo, and the differences are virtually imperceivable from the old logo. Look on Ebay and you will say maybe one box logo that is different from that which is picture above. The letters lean in the same direction, are bubbly, but are a slightly different font. I saw a different logo that had black, red, yellow in it. It was hideous. Here is the url for it. http://www.logoorange.com/
Scroll down until you see the two Lego logos pictured. See the new one and an old one.

i agree with that, i still love just getting piles of bricks and making random houses! heck, if it was not for BASIC & SIMPLE Lego, they'd probably never have had blocks for the 3D models to use for the development of Metal Gear Solid 2
