My question is simple. Why there are different phones in USA and Poland on your website? Does it have to do with the bigger competition on a Polish market?
The reason I'm writing this is because, I had choose to write a Master paper on "International Marketing Strategy of SE- comparative study od Poland & USA".
Is there any help that I may receive from You I would be thankful.
Pawel

In Poland most the ads are done by the operator. They suggest the best phone for the cheapest price and it is usually SE. But your right Ahsan, SE does not have many ads on the tv or billboards. What have I saw is most common is that SE is always present at the TENNIS TOURNAMENT'S, logo placed on both sides of the net. Could someone from SE tell my why it is like this now?

Ya pawel...i agree with u..actually sony ericsson always sponsor tennis tournament's...and u can say that tennis is the sport of sony ericsson...but thats not the problem...problem is..that i always want to see sony ericsson on top in the mobile world...and they are still launching the products which are one of its own kind...like XPERIA,SATIO,AINO and X10 (RACHEAL) but still sony ericsson is not on the top list...because they are not advertising their products properly.

Well In 2006, the first full year on the market, Sony Ericsson sold 60 million music mobile phones, including 17 million Walkman-branded devices. By comparison, Apple sold 39 million iPods during the same period. Flint pointed to these figures at this year's MIDEM music industry conference as proof that the market for music mobile phones is vastly bigger than that for dedicated MP3 players.
That also means, of course, it won't be long before competitors catch on and challenge Sony Ericsson for a bigger chunk of the sector. "This industry is getting extremely cyclical," says Mawston, who reports competitors are faster than ever in mimicking successful ideas. "With its emphasis on cool products and cool branding, [Sony Ericsson is] likely to be copied by Apple."
To keep its lead in music phones, Sony Ericsson is belatedly going down-market with less expensive models. Last year, it released the W300i, the first low-end Walkman phone, and will follow up this year with the W200i, a sub-€100 Walkman phone. That will help pick up sales in emerging markets like China, India, and Pakistan.
At the same time, the company's longstanding emphasis on high-end phones—bolstered by its unrivalled position in the high-priced Japanese market—keeps the overall portfolio profitable. By comparison, Motorola and Nokia (NOK) have been bloodied in a race for volume and sales of low-end models in India and China, pushing margins down .
Keep Your Prices Up
By staying above the fray, Sony Ericsson has maintained an average selling price (ASP) of $188, one of the highest in the industry, compared with Motorola's $121. (Nokia has yet to announce its results for 2006, but analysts predict its fourth-quarter average selling price could be $113 (see BusinessWeek.com, 1/5/07, "Crunch Time for Nokia")).
"What's been most impressive, beyond [Sony Ericsson's] steady unit growth, has been how they've maintained the ASP," says Andrew Brown, program manager for mobile computing research at IDC in London. "They've managed the product mix extremely well, keeping things slanted toward the high end, which is terrific."
For all its success, Sony Ericsson is still somewhat of a niche player. Its annual volume of just under 75 million units is roughly a third of Motorola's, and less than one-quarter of Nokia's. But Flint sees plenty of opportunity for growth.
"Sony Ericsson respects all of its competitors, but we fear none of them," says the British-born chief executive. "Five years ago, we were a company that was almost written off before we started, and now we're a major player in this industry." If things keep going as well as they have recently, it may not be long before Flint's bold October prediction comes true.

Sony’s confused music marketing strategy
A couple of years ago Engadget reported on the new Sony Ericsson W800 Walkman phone which comes with MP3 and AAC support. Copyfighter Derek Slater points out that this means that Sony markets a device that is incompatible with its own Connect online music store—Connect offers downloads in Sony’s proprietary ATRAC3 format wrapped in OpenMG DRM, which does not allow conversion to MP3 or AAC.
In fact, the situation is even worse; remember this news of a couple of weeks ago?
Sony BMG expects that by year’s end a substantial number of its U.S. releases will employ either Sunncomm’s newly enhanced MediaMax or First4Internet’s XCP to address piracy concerns.
This basically means that all Sony music for the U.S. market will soon be incompatible with Sony’s own W800.
Note that the situation in Japan (where the W800 is not available) is quite different. Sony Music Entertainment Japan does not produce CCCDs any longer and Sony Ericsson cell phones with MP3+AAC support do not exist; the only Sony devices that come close to the ‘cell phone+music player’ model are DoCoMo’s Music Porter and AU’s recently announced W31S, both of which support ATRAC3. (Note: the W31S also supports aacPlus.)

I think we should look at what Sony Ericsson is doing with this Facebook fan page.
We get thrown all the traditional marketing tv spots etc. but very little is being made to LISTEN to the consumer and RESPOND to what we think Sony Ericsson should do.
It's sad that a large % of the fanbase has went iPhone : (
No, I don't think the X10 will bring back those people as it seems to be a very high end device that has not been perfected yet.
It has a nice GUI but not very sexy hardware a bit too big... Please make a mini more affordable android device!
Some people at SE are wondering why SE is not lovable enough, it's because you are not trying hard enough to be part of your own community.

You r rite billy...but still iphone cannot defeat sonyericsson in music mobiles and camera phones ofcourse....they r still the leading music and camera mobile phone makers....but the tragedy is....that sony ericsson makes the best phones...still...but they are weak in marketing and advertising their products and thats the only fact....
thats my thought.!!!

people who are testing SE do not leave good reviews and impressions about the devices before their launch date. When i saw Satio first being tested by a moron girl who did not even know how to use it or hold it in her hands i was very very disappointed.
The fact that SE is better than IPhone or Nokia, SE has not been able to make a single device to be able to offer touch screen capabilities of Iphone in the past 2 years. I am so ashamed of holding my thumbs up for SE. Sony is the world leader in Technology cant even compete with a small Company who only and only cater for rich "Apple".
Sony Ericsson please listen to us and be up to date with the market demand.

Iphone still use useless in some countries and many mobile companies are not active in those services SE is lacking in advertising just because there main focus is on sony electronics ...i.e BRAVIA ,,VAIO ... and others...and now they are marketing PS .. but the thing is that they should market SE mobile phone properly which will enhance the current market growth in big countries....SE is now become popular in US but still MOTOROLA got high percentages.SE should work hard on this..

@Ashan
I agree that Sony Ericsson makes exceptional hardware, however I do feel that we all have to admit that Apple did gets credit for the intuative GUI , and multi touch gestures.
Even with the X10 we need to wait for 2.0 for multitouch?
Apple has set a minimum bar for all competitors in the touch screen devices market.
@Zabih
I agree with you. But I wouldn't say ashamed just dissapointed : (
@Ghalib
Sony Ericsson has very little market share in the U.S way behind
the big players Nokia, Rim, Motorola, Apple, even Samsung : (
In the europe and middle east SE has a bigger share of the pie but it has been going down...
I do believe that Sony Ericsson will come back in 2010, and hope that they do create a mini X10. ( I wish they could buy Palm and completely drop Symbian but thats my personal opinion)
Sony Ericsson will be a sponsor of the World Cup, so a combination of exceptional products and good marketing (not only tennis!) could be a come back?
We will see : )

lets see...we can only hope for the best....but SE should realise that its time to drop their weak points...and should compete with the other brands with their same features to shut their mouth....like multi touch, loud stereo speakers, big memory....but there is a problem with too much memory..because when your memory gets full your phone reacts slowlyyy...
so SE we dont worry about the memory 8 to 16 GB is enough...
and where are u SE guys please respond to ur questions...!
thank you.

Yes, you are correct we will probably see more Sony advertising since Sony is actually the "big" sponsor from the Joint Venture. But the official "handset" of the World Cup will be a Sony Ericsson device. I am not sure if this means they are allowed to use this in marketing for all phones in advertisements OR some specific model will be announced.
If it's just exclusive promo material pre loaded for SE customers, big fail of huge opportunity...
They have started very discreet promo

and Yes you do see a big bravia tv : (
So, we cant expect to much

Satio was supposed to be very big launch..... how SE launched it, two days before launch date, we saw adverts everywhere which was really really poor strategy. satio was announced before pixon, pixon was launched before satio and still satio's camera is not as good as pixon. Sony is supposed to be the parent company for samsung then how come samsung has made better 12 migapixel camera on a phone than SE.

You are wrong on the comparison of SATION n PIXON....SATIO has mush better camera then PIXON....SATIO's images are more sharper, brighter and more clear as compared to PIXON....and check this link and judge urself that SATIO is better or PIXON. Although the editors gave their comments that pixon camera is better but i didnt saw any pixon's image better then SATIO.., and one more thing u'll see that SATIO images were captured at full zoom and pixon images not.....thats y u'll see SATIO images more pixilette then PIXON12. but still SATIO images are more colourful then PIXON.

i wish SE change their marketing strategy and start following up and catching up in the technology market. We all talk about SE best in music phones and camera phones, ok camera phones right, this year SE is beaten up by iphone 3gs music capabilities. Everyone agrees on this, i have seen it in so many forums.
The otrher thing is i am fed up of SE failing in the Touch Screen Phones what has Apple Got that SE hasnt got. Sony (is there anything that Ericsson is stopping you from going forward, i guess it is time for you to go solo and bring back SONY Phones just like Nokia has single name, Apple has single name, you do the same. More ppl in the world recognises Sony than any other brand.

why is $2Billion dollar too much for SE, Sony world leader in technolgy can buy hundreds of Palm or Apple or etc.
Anyways, i just saw this article about X2. i am so pissed of again. WHY X2 is exclusive to Vodafone. The whole enjoyment of real phone will be lost due to Vodafone crap software.
SE pls reconsider leave X2 open to all networks, dont allow Vodafone to personalise it.
http://www.tracyandmatt.co .uk/blogs/index.php
you will win alot of new customer by leaving it open and free from any networks personalised softwares.
